Last month I was attending a walk organised by GAP a charity organisation established by Greyhound Racing New Zealand to find pet homes for retired racing greyhounds.

At that time my friend was looking for a dog and he thought that adopting an retired greyhound may become a good idea.

So he invited me to join him early in the morning for a short 1.5 hour walk around Panmure basin in Auckland.

Every year there are greyhounds coming out of racing.

The adoption programme helps them find a new home as a pet providing support and advices to new owners.

You may be surprised but retired greyhounds are a great pets!

They are smart,

intelligent,

and lazy 🙂

Also they adapt to pet life with ease.

Unlike we though these dogs are very calm and quet, and become a family favourite in absolutely no time.

Judge for yourself!
